South Florida is almost always warm with blue skies and plenty of sunshine. While the summer months are high in humidity and afternoon downpours, the winter months make us the envy of the rest of the country. This time of year is also the favorite for many South Florida residents, and most probably the reason so many people have “winter homes” and retire down here.
Aside from the great weather, South Florida has fantastic events this time of year. These are my top picks…
Catch Cirque Dreams at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, from December 26th through the 30th. Cirque Dreams Holidaze is a Broadway musical, cirque spectacle and family show all in one! This two-hour theatrical performance features 300 imaginative costumes, the finest singers, original music, soaring acrobatics, gravity defying feats, elaborate production numbers and illusions
Experience one of South Florida’s favorite family traditions with Stranahan House’s Annual Victorian Christmas. With its period decorations, live music, and costumed characters, a visit to Stranahan House will certainly put you in the holiday spirit.
The first Thursday in January, the NSU Art Museum will host their monthly Art of Wine & Food Series. The first meeting of 2018 will explore different varieties of wine, and pair them with small bites.
Direct from Las Vegas: An Evening with Cher, Elton, Bette, and & Streisand will be coming to the Broward Center for Performing Arts’ Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on January 21st. Some of Las Vegas’ best impersonators of all time are recreating the performances of all the wonderful variety show performers we grew up on in the 70s and 80s.
While we do experience a few cold fronts during the winter months, it’s important to emphasize that “cold” for us doesn’t mean what it does elsewhere in the United States. Cold here means in the 50s, sometimes 40s. Because Florida weather in January still cannot be beat anywhere else in the United States, I can certainly facilitate the purchase of a winter getaway home for you. Please email me, and I’ll start searching for you right away.
