Dog-Friendly Fort Lauderdale

Dogs are a great addition to the family. There’s no question about that. And there’s no better city for a dog to live in than Fort Lauderdale. Whether you’re taking your family French bulldog to the dog park, or carrying your Shih Tzu in your stylish doggy purse, you’re in good company. Because Fort Lauderdale doesn’t just tolerate dogs, it caters to them. From restaurants to attractions, here are some of the top dog-friendly businesses and events in Fort Lauderdale.

    Things to do …

From puppy parks and beaches to doggy boutiques and spas, you can experience plenty of furry-focused fun in Fort Lauderdale.

The Performance Pups Fresh Water Dog Beach is the cleanest freshwater dog lake in Broward County. Open year round, this beautiful lake is perfect for a leisurely doggy paddle, literally.

The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale caps off the summer with “The Dog Days of Summer,” a series of month-long, dog-themed events, including a fashion show.

If your four-legged baby is in need of a little socialization or TLC, Fort Lauderdale has a number of spas, including Camp Canine, and Java Cat & Dog Spa.

    Places to eat …

There are hundreds of restaurants in Fort Lauderdale that welcome dogs. There are so many, in fact, you could eat out almost six months before having to revisit one. Here are some of my favorites …

Boatyard is one of Fort Lauderdale’s premier waterfront dining destinations. It offers an upscale nautical-chic vibe, and a laid back atmosphere that embraces furry babies.

YOLO, at the west end of Las Olas Boulevard, is well known for its Sunday brunch. Their beautiful outdoor patio is open to dogs of all sizes, and when you sit down a server will bring your thirsty pooch a fresh bowl of water.

The Floridian has been a landmark Las Olas eatery for over 70 years. Best known for its phenomenal breakfasts, their patio area is always accommodating to pups.

Coconuts is ideal for pups that travel by sea. Located on the Intercoastal, this casual waterfront eatery has dog-friendly outdoor seating.

Fort Lauderdale is a great place to live. That is as true for its four-legged residents as is it for their human owners. There are dog parks, and beaches, and spas, and bakeries, and boutiques, and, of course, the great weather. It doesn’t get any better than this!
